How Does A Lobster Grow?
There is a theory I heard a very wise man, and it goes as follows. A lobster is a soft-shelled animal that lives in a rigid shell. That rigid shell does not expand. So, how does a lobster grow? A lobster grows, its shells become confining and it begins to feel under pressure and uncomfortable. The lobster then has to hatch its shell, all while seeking shelter under a rock due to its new unvenerable state. Then that shell becomes uncomfortable, so back under the next rock. This is repeated time and time through a lobster's lifetime. The key factor in the lobster's ability to grow is being uncomfortable, and feeling stressed. If the lobster were to go to the doctor and express its discomfort it would likely be given Xanax and sent about its day. Never hatching out of its shell. It's important to realize times of stress are also times that are signals for growth., and if we use adversity properly, we will grow through adversity.

In this practice, we will be the lobster. Starting as the lobster we begin to enter the shells around us. In each shell, I will provide different practices and habits to help us adapt to our new shell, while not becoming comfortable. It may feel spacious in our new environment with our new understanding, but if we fill our shell with negativity or coddle comforts, we will never have room for our lobster to grow and fill the shell. we enter the outer rings, where we begin to challenge who we are and our comfort. I think if you can make things fun and give a sense of instant gratification, applying the things you learn becomes more natural. Are you ready to face the feeling of discomfort that comes with all the joys of growth and self-awareness?

Becoming the lobster is the first, and most important step. This is where we start to explore and understand the idea that stress and discomfort can be the stimulus for growth!
